10 Outdoor MUST Haves for Kids

These are my favorite outdoor products that I always have packed up and ready to go for my toddler.

Outdoor must haves for kids

  • SwimZip bathing suits. With as much time as we spend outdoors and at the pool, I always make sure to have one of these with us. These suits have UV 50+ protection and are chlorine resistant. The fact that they zip up makes it so much easier to throw on over normal clothing or to take off after a day of fun in the water. They have so many fun designs and styles right now, so be sure to check them out on their website or read more about them here.

  • Wondercide all natural insect repellent. This stuff is amazing. It is DEET free with no toxic chemicals, artificial colors or fragrances, preservatives, pyrethrins or synthetic pesticides. It is safe to use on your pets and around the home too. I spray it around our front door to keep mosquitos out, on our dog to keep her from getting ticks, and on my toddler and myself before spending the day outside. The cedar and lemongrass scent is my favorite, mmmm.

  • Eight Stripes beach and pool bags. These bags are AMAZING. Everything you could ever need will fit in to them, and I mean EVERYTHING. The small zipper pouch is perfect for holding your cell phones, keys, and anything else that need some extra protection. I use them weekly at the pool and even for grocery shopping as well. They also make little clutch sized bags, perfect for your trip to the beach and keeping your valuables from getting wet or sandy.

  • First Aid Kit. I never go anywhere without ours in tow, just to be safe. You never know when your kids are going to fall down and skin their knee, or come down with a bug. In the summer I throw in insect repellent and sunscreen as well.

  • California Baby sunscreen. It is mineral based, fragrance free, and gentle on sensitive skin. I love this suncare basics kit as it has everything you need for a safe day in the sun with kids. We use the sunscreen almost daily and my toddler has yet to get sunburned!
  • Puddle Jumper. These are the best. We started using one right before my daughter turned two and she has loved it since day one. It is great that they can be more independent in the water and safe at the same time. They provide more support than traditional water wings and are coast guard approved.
  • Ergo Performance Carrier. If you have a little one under 45 pounds, this is amazing for outdoor use. It is the most comfortable carrier I have used by far. It is super lightweight, with a mesh liner, and inside the zipper pouch is a hood to cover your child’s head from rain or sun.
  • Kids Camelbak Bag. This lightweight backpack has a 50oz insulated reservoir to keep your kids hydrated. It also fits extra clothing and items needd while outdoors. The reflective straps even have a whistle attached for added safety!
  • BabyMoov Anti-UV Tent. We bring this to the beach and any outdoor events that we go to. My child can only take so much time in the sun before she has a meltdown and this tent is the perfect getaway. It blocks out all UVA and UVB rays, is super easy to put together, and comes with a carrying case.

  • Kidco Peapod Bed and Tent. We have yet to go camping, but how great is this little travel bed and tent for smaller campers ages 1-5? It comes fully assembled with sleeping pad included. It is lightweight and the mesh promotes air flow and acts as an insect screen, UV protection, and has anchor straps for ground attachment.
