How to fix dried out markers

One of the things I have always wanted my child to inherit from her dad is his creativity. I can barely draw a stick figure but he can sit there and draw things from memory and make it come out amazing. I have always been envious of that and lucky for my daughter, she seems to have the same artistic gene. With her creative genius comes lots of messes. My toddler is notorious for not putting caps back on her markers. After throwing away countless dried out markers and much trial and error I finally came up with a way to bring these dried up markers back to life!

Dried out markers hack

Step 1: Fill a bowl with 2 cups warm water and 1 Tbs white vinegar
Step 2: Place the dried out marker, tip down, cap off, into the bowl.
Step 3: Let sit until some ink starts to release into the water, about 5 minutes.
Step 4: Remove marker and dry off the tip with paper towel.
Step 5: Replace cap and let marker sit on its side for about 15 minutes.
Step 6: Be amazed as your marker works again! For really dried out markers, dip the tip of the marker in white vinegar for a minute or two and repeat the rest of the steps again.

P.S. These are the BEST markers ever and they are super washable and they make them in this new pipsqueak size so your toddler can handle them better!

I wish I would have known about this a few years ago when my daughter was younger. It seemed she always left the cap off the marker! Such a great hack.

I chuckle every time I read the title of your blog. We used to say this around the office all the time. 😉 Great tip on getting the markers to work again! With two little artists we go through a lot of markers. Mostly b/c they never put the caps back on. This just might remedy that for us!

Aww haha glad you like it!! My daughter NEVER puts them back on. No matter how many times I tell her to! And of course she refuses to use crayons too, haha.

Totally going to have to try this. We hate it when we leave the top off of our sharpies!
